Drives are held in the La Crosse area and surrounding communities with schools, businesses, churches and other civic groups. As premature babies at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, the twin girls both received a blood transfusion at birth. Premature babies start out with fewer red blood cells, so they need blood transfusions to keep the blood count normal.<br>Giving back and helping to sustain the community blood supply is a family affair. The young women and their parents are all regular blood donors with BloodCenter of Wisconsin.
